The 27th season of the iconic animated series 'The Simpsons' is going to be filled with great new stories. However, there is one shocking storyline that is currently threatening to break the internet.
Executive producer Al Jean recently spoke to Variety about the upcoming season, where he confirmed that Homer Simpson will vote again in 2016. After avoiding the question about who Homer will be voting for, the EP talked about what to expect in the upcoming episodes.
"In the premiere, it's discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it's an incredible strain on the marriage," Jean revealed. "Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham. We'll have cameos from the other women from 'Girls.'"
Homer and Marge have been together since the show's debut in 1989, but their marriage has not exactly been perfect. There were several instances when Marge kicked her husband out of the house, but the couple always worked things out. However, it looks like the other woman will be the last straw for the long-suffering housewife.
News of the fictional couple's impending separation was not received well by fans, who immediately ranted on Twitter.
I can't believe Homor & Marge break up! What is this world coming to? #Simpsons

So the Simpsons are separating. R U kidding? Absolutely ridiculous to write that into the show. I won't watch. It's over for me! #Simpsons — Duke (@Dmbsr312) June 10, 2015

There were also hopeful tweets, mostly in support of Marge.
Yes, it's the end of an era. But come on if Marge were my friend I would be sooo happy for her. #Simpsons — Leah (@LeahLizabeth) June 10, 2015

All is not lost. Jean had good news as well. "In another episode, Spider Pig makes his return," the executive producer confirmed. "Sideshow Bob appears in a segment, and we finally see him do something he's wanted to do for 25 years."
Jean also told fans not to get their hopes up on another full-length movie. "I would rather end the show whenever that happens before doing another movie," he said. "It's unlikely there'll be another 'Simpsons' feature while the show is being produced."
'The Simpson' was recently renewed by FOX for a 27th and 28th season, which will bring the series total to an astounding 625 episodes.
