Rick Santorum Got Only One Supporter During His Anti- Gay Campaign Speech

Rick Santorum ended up eating in a restaurant around 2 pm when only one person showed up to his campaign event, warning people about same-sex marriage.

The anti- Republican was expecting a large crowd in Hamlin on Monday for his anti gay campaign speech. However, according to The Des Moines Register, only one person showed up at the event.

The former Senator said he has not eaten all day and decided to eat lunch instead and discussed his thoughts about his anti- gay campaign with Peggy Toff. Three more lowans showed up in the restaurant and joined the discussion. Santorum had tenderloin with a side of onion rings.

Santorum, was the one who claimed that equal marriage would "destroy the institutions of America's foundation."

"This is where the left is saying, 'Here is what your belief system should be, and anyone who does not toe the line, you're a hater, you're a bigot, you're intolerant and you will not be tolerated,'" Santorum said, when a newcomer Glen Meyers who is a minister asked him about his thoughts on same sex-marriage. He even called the equal marriage a threat to family and religious liberty.

After shaking hands and posing for a couple of shots, he stood outside claimed the event was a success.

After failing to secure his 2012 nomination spot from his party, Santorum announced last month he is planning to run for the White House.

He joined the campaign against marriage equality back in 2012 and claimed that same sex marriage would destroy churches and families. He even said that if equal marriage would become law, marriage would "disintegrate."

As part of Santorum schedule he will visit Caroll and Denison on Monday.
