A Look Into The 2015 CFDA Award Winners

The 2015 Council of Fashion Designers for America Awards - or CFDA Awards - was held on Monday night. Taking stage at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, the CFDA honors various contributions in the American fashion industry.

With 11 presented awards, here's a roundup of the nominees and winners for each category.

Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for The Row were the nominees for the Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

With a tight roster, the Olsen twins took home the 2015 award. This year's win marks their second Womenswear Designer of the Year award, following their win in 2012 for the same category.

On the other hand, the Menswear Designer of the Year award went to Tom Ford. The genius behind the self-named luxury brand was against Thom Browne, Tim Coppens, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne for Public School, and Marcus Wainright and David Neville for Rag & Bone.

Creative minds behind Public School, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne were also nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear alongside Ryan Roche and Rosie Assoulin. However, Assoulin took home the award this year.

The Swarovski Award for Menswear nominees included Shayne Oliver for Hood by Air, Shimon Ovadia and Ariel Ovadia for Ovadia & Sons, and Alex Orley, Matthew Orley, and Samantha Orley for Orley. But by the end of the night, Shayne Oliver was the triumphant one for the category.

Paul Andrew, Eva Zuckerman for Eva Fehren, and Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel for Mansur Gavriel were all nominated for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design. But the award went to Mansur and Gavriel.

A few other special awards were also given out that night. Betsey Johnson won the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award while Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino brought home the International Award.

The Founder's Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert went to Mickey Drexler, and Instagram took home the Media Award in Honor of Eugenia Sheppard, as presented by Kim Kardashian West.

Ironically, Pharrell Williams was the least glam of the night, wearing denim jeans and a leather jacket, but won the Fashion Icon Award.
