‘Vanity Fair’ Stylist Jessica Diehl Spills Behind The Scenes With Caitlyn Jenner [PHOTOS]

Jessica Diehl, Fashion and Style Director for "Vanity Fair" is the woman responsible in helping create the looks featured on the magazine when Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself to the world.

The July issue photo shoot was a well-kept secret, but now that it's out, Diehl dishes some interesting thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner. Jessica even shared the difficulty of sourcing clothes for the shoot.

"We couldn't really prepare the way we normally prepare. Normally we go to, I don't know, Valentino or Armani, and say we are shooting a cover and ask if they can give us some clothes [to borrow]," she said.

But the challenge turned into something fun for the director. Telling Vanity Fair Hollywood, "For this, I had to go into store incognito, so to speak - not like anyone would know what I looked like anyway - and buy stuff. That was actually what was fun."

The shoot and cover star was so under wraps that barely anyone at Vanity Fair even knew about it. "The secrecy, I have to say, had a lot to do with being discreet and shopping. We talked to no one," Diehl explained.

"Literally, the people here at Vanity Fair did not know. Three people in the fashion department knew, including me," she added.

Finding the right look for Caitlyn Jenner posed a great difficulty both for Jenner and the people responsible for the shoot. Caitlyn intended to go into a different direction than that of her well-known family known as fashion icons.

"Coming from a very fashion-forward family, we sort of thought that the nicest thing to do was to focus on style over fashion. Nothing too bling or too shiny. Kind of keeping it more in the style arena rather than hardcore fashion arena," Diehl elaborated.

Jessica also explained how easy it was to dress Caitlyn. "We had basically a three or four hour fitting. I have to say, out of that three or four hour fitting, there were only two things we did not like. Everything looks good on her. That just doesn't happen," she said.

One of the reasons why it was easy to dress Jenner was her "fantastic physique." Diehl even added, "She's slim, and her proportions are very easy to dress."

Both Caitlyn and Jessica talked about inspiration and pegs for the shoot when she visited Jenner's Malibu home. Taking inspiration from old Hollywood, pegs included Lauren Bacall, Faye Dunaway in "The Thomas Crown Affair," and even Jackie Kennedy.
