'Feminist Mad Max' Meme: Tumblr Posts Empower Furiousa, Promote Equal Rights [PHOTOS]

George Miller's post-apocalyptic action flick is nothing short of a modern cinematic masterpiece. 'Mad Max: Fury Road' effectively combined spectacular action sequences with a storyline that was simple and empowering to women.

The film is unapologetic of its obviously feminist plot. Although Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) has his name in the movie title, he is little more than a sidekick to Imperator Furiousa (Charlize Theron), who towers over the movie.

Audiences immediately picked up on the female empowerment vibe. A new trend has emerged on the internet, giving a new twist to the popular 'Feminist Ryan Gosling' meme.

The 'Feminist Mad Max' Tumblr combines empowering statements with 'Fury Road' screen caps. Like the Ryan Gosling meme, the posts start with the line 'Hey girl' but are directly addressed to Furiousa by Max, the closet feminist.

One of the first posts has already received more than 15,000 notes. It features a screen cap of Max with the caption "hey girl: you can use my shoulder as a rifle stand, as you're the better shot of the two of us."

Another post, which received around 6,000 notes, addresses Furiousa's dark past. "hey girl: I don't need to see the pain and humiliation you suffered as a sex slave. I believe you," the caption reads.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' is the fourth installment in the Mad Max film series. It marks the return of Max, who plays a key role in Furiousa's plans. When the Imperator teams up with Immortan Joe's Five Wives in a bid for freedom, Max has to lead them but this doesn't necessarily mean that he's the leader.

The film also starred Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Courtney Eaton.

Miller is currently planning to direct two more sequels to the film, the first of which will be called 'Mad Max: The Wasteland.'
