Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson Passes First Round Of Concussion Tests

Golden State Warriors Shooting Guard Klay Thompson has passed his first round of precautionary concussion testing. According to his agent Bill Duffy of BDA Sports in an interview in USA TODAY Sports,"My understanding is that it was negative" regarding the tests. "There were no issues."

The Warriors marksman was knocked out from clinching game 5 win over the Houston Rockets, when he received an inadvertent knee to the side of the head from Rockets forward Trevor Ariza. Cameras showed blood dripping out of Thompson's ear after the collision.

Thompson's father, former NBA player Mychal, claimed Klay was showing concussion-like symptoms in the locker room after the game. "He threw up a lot late last night but he felt much better afterwards." Speaking on ESPN's Mike and Mike Radio show, the former Laker legend said his son was "woozy" when he was being driven home.

Klay is expected to see a neurologist in the next few days to get a final diagnosis on his condition.

It has been a worrisome last few days for the newly crowned Western Conference Champions. Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry, the other half of the team's vaunted 'Splash Brothers' duo was also the subject of concussion rumours earlier this week when he landed awkwardly on his head and neck during game 4 of the series. Curry was cleared to play in Game 5, but wore a protective sleeve on his arm. The first time in his career he has done so.

The NBA Finals doesn't tip off until June 4, 2015. Warriors' fans are hoping the long layoff will allow their two ailing stars to fully recuperate in time for their showdown with 4 time NBA MVP Lebron James and the Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
