Lions Gate Entertainment recently released the first 'American Ultra' red-band trailer. In the NSWF (Not Safe For Work) trailer, "stoned" Jesse Eisenberg kills for Kristen Stewart.
The trailer for this action-comedy indie follows the love story of Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) and Phoebe (Kristen Stewart). But unlike any other romantic comedy, in 'American Ultra' Eisenberg and Stewart are stoners. Trailer clips of the two smoking drugs can be seen.
As shown, their unconventional relationship hits a bump when stoner Eisenberg's character Mike discovers that he is actually a deadly uncover agent. That's only when he was being followed and tracked down by government operatives.
'American Ultra' preview reveals scenes of Eisenberg and Stewart getting caught up in secret-agent related activities - murder and espionage, among them. It gets so deadly that "stoned" Eisenberg has to kill for Stewart.
The red-band trailer even hints, "there's nothing more dangerous than a stoned cold killer."
In addition to the action scenes, the trailer also showed some hilarious clips. There's a scene of one character saying, "he killed two operatives with a spoon," with regard to Mike's skills.
'American Ultra', penned by Max Landis (Chronicles), is an action-comedy film by Nima Nourizadeh, director of 'Project X'. Despite being an action-comedy, 'American Ultra' centers on a a romantic love story. In an interview with MTV News, the director said of "stoned" Eisenberg's character, "His main motivation in the movie really right now at the beginning anyways is to propose to her. He's in love with her, that's his life, he wants to propose to her."
As bonus to eager views, the indie action-comedy's snippet gives a glimpse of other cast like Connie Britton, John Leguizamo, and Topher Grace.
'American Ultra' is the second film where Jesse Eisenberg teams up with Kristen Stewart. They were also cast together in the 2009 film 'Adventureland', written and directed by Greg Mottola.
'American Ultra', which features Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart in lead roles, airs on August 21 in theaters nationwide.
