In a new series premiering tonight on the Travel Channel, Adam Richman -- perhaps best known as the host (and challenger) of Man vs. Food -- is looking for the best sandwich in the country. The show, titled Adam Richman's Best Sandwhich in America, follows Richman around the nation as he tries the best 30 sandwiches available in 27 cities.
And yes, he does mean sandwich. Burgers, burritos, wraps, and hotdogs are not eligable contenders.
In tonight's pilot episode, he puts Philadelphia in competition with Pittsburgh and New York City. Each episode, he awards points to a sandwich by evaluating its bread, interior, taste, and eating experience -- he calls it the BITE system. Much like in sports, there will be different rounds. Richman will pick a regional winner after trying out different cities' sandwhiches, and from those finalist, he will select one sandwich to earn the title of America's Best.
The Travel Channel compares the final "hour-long battle royale" to March Madness. Maybe you know some fellow food show junkies who would be willing to start a pool.
