Penelope Cruz Zoolander 2: Ben Stiller CONFIRMS Javier Bardem’s Wife Starring In ‘Zoolander’ Sequel!

For a few months, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have been publicizing the long-awaited sequel for their 2001 film about a male model that ends up saving the world - and now, as the film moves forward, Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" appearance is confirmed!

At the recent Paris Fashion Week in March, Stiller and Wilson appeared on the Valentino runway and posed alongside US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, as they've been filming the sequel for some time now, though besides this appearance shooting has kept mostly secret, though it has been going on for months - and will now include Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" casting.

Variety reports that, weeks before Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" appearance was confirmed, the two actors and collaborators announced the movie's release date on the Paris Fashion Week, stating that it'd be out in theaters on February 16, 2016.

According to The Daily Mail, the announcement of Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" casting was made through Ben Stiller's Instagram and Twitter accounts, in a fairly strange post: instead of posting a current photo of the Oscar-winning Spanish beauty, the actor and comedian showed a picture of the "Nine" actress that looks like a school picture from her childhood.

Months ago, Deadline had reported about Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" appearance, but it hadn't been confirmed by any of the parties officially involved in the movie, in a cast that also includes Kristen Wiig, the return of the first film's villain Will Ferrell, Stiller's wife Christine Taylor (who also co-starred in the original movie) and even, surprisingly enough, Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West.

"The Leftovers" actor and Jennifer Aniston fiancé, Justin Theroux, co-wrote the movie's screenplay alongside Stiller, after working together in the hilarious Robert Downey Jr. "Tropic Thuder" - and that's not the only time Theroux has written a movie Downey starred in, as he also penned the screenplay for Marvel's "Iron Man 2."

In any case, Penelope Cruz's "Zoolander 2" casting makes the perspective of the upcoming film even more fun, as the actress takes on comedy after usually starring in heavy dramas, including her Oscar-winning role in Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
