Collagen Beer Claims To Make Skin Look Younger And Prettier [PHOTO+VIDEO]

Japan is certainly no stranger to odd foods of all sorts, and the new collagen beer just brings further proof of the country's odd tastes and its mastery in alcohol, as the country hosts the Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013, the best whiskey in the world according to experts.

Over the past few months, Food World News has reported some of the oddest things that have come out in Japanese food, including most recently a Kit Kat sandwich in a national fast food chain and how the country's Burger King franchise released a perfume that smells like a whopper - so the collagen beer is just the latest novelty for the country that gave birth to Godzilla.

Now, according to The Telegraph, a company has released a type of collagen beer that claims that, due to the natural protein's skin-enhancing properties, could actually make drinkers look beautiful and youthful.

Collagen is a protein with a large set of skin-enhancing properties which include keeping the skin plump and supple in young age - one of the reasons we wrinkle up up later in life is because collagen decreases.

PopSci reports hat the new collagen beer was created by Japanese brewery Suntory, and labeled under the name "Precious."

As fas as its specifications go, the collagen beer contains two grams of collagen per can, as well as five percent alcohol - and it's targeted primarily to a female audience, not too long after Brazil adpeople released a brand of feminist beer set to steer away from usual sexist advertising.

The new product is currently only available in Japan's northern island of Hokkaido.

"Guys can tell if a girl is taking collagen or not," reads the drink's odd tagline, according to The Daily Mail.

The move to create a collagen beer comes as the country's going through a wave of collagen supplements, advertised as being the cure to aging.
