The past few months have seen a major decrease in popularity and sales for the largest fast food chain in the world - and now, the latest in a string to move past their popularity problems, the company with the golden arches releases the McDonald's new burger.
The McDonald's new burger, Sirloin Third Pound, is the biggest sandwich to come out of the chain to date, and it's only the company's latest attempt to get on patron's good graces once more, following the failed "Pay with Lovin'" campaign launched during the Super Bowl and the recent trial of all-day breakfast.
The McDonald's new burger also comes at a time when the company attempts to take a step towards better wages from its employees, after months of protests; the restaurant chain boosted employee's salaries recently, but the move was highly criticized as it only included the restaurants owned by the company, as the franchises have the capacity to choose their employees' wages.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the McDonald's new burger, Sirloin Third Pound, adds a new level of complexity to the menu that was revamped only a few months back, at the start of 2015.
The sandwich, which has a similar concept to that of the disappeared Angus Third Pounders, comes in three possible options: a bacon burger, one with mushrooms and a classic lettuce-and-tomato burger, all of which are served in a surface based on a cutting board.
While the burger will be undergoing a tryout, if it becomes popular with the public it could ultimately turn into a regular menu item for the company.
Now, as Fortune reports, the McDonald's new burger attempts to save the day once more for the home of Ronald McDonald: the move comes from the hand of Steve Esterbrook, the company's new CEO, who stated in the past that he wanted to turn McDonald's into a "modern, progressive burger company."
For now, the McDonald's new burger will be served starting May 12 until late June.
