Andy Samberg 2015 Emmys: ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Fox Star Hosting TV Awards!

Starting out his career as a cast member in the iconic show "Saturday Night Live," Andy Samberg's 2015 Emmy hosting will be the first time that the actor and comedian takes up the stage to emcee a major event.

While Andy Samberg's 2015 Emmys will be his first time on the job, he has some really strong credentials in the business of being funny, being one of the founding members of the comedy group The Lonely Island (along with Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone), the guys behind megahits like "D*ck In a Box" and "I'm on a Boat," having recently gotten a huge show performing "The Lego Movie" song "Everything Is Awesome" at the 2015 Oscars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement of Andy Samberg's 2015 Emmys gig was made last Thursday, as the SNL alum will be the next of a long list of people from the variety show to take on hosting duties, like how Chris Rock once hosted the Oscars, Seth Meyers took on the Emmys last year and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler finished up a three-year round hosting the Golden Globes last January.

As CNN reports, it was the choice of both the TV Academy and Fox to have Andy Samberg 2015 Emmys hosting made a reality, marking the first time ever that the Golden Globe-winning actor gets to emcee a major televised event.

"Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers!," said the actor in a statement regarding the Andy Samberg 2015 Emmys. "Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts."

As Deadline reports, Samberg is no stranger to the Emmys himself, having won one in 2007 for the viral hit song "D*ck In a Box." He shared the credits with Jorma Taccone, Katreese Barnes, Asa Taccone, Akiva Schaffer and Justin Timberlake, for a song played when the former N'Sync member hosted the show.

The Andy Samberg 2015 Emmys will air on September 20 at 8pm EST, live dorm the Los Angeles Nokia Theater.
