Over the past year, the 31 year-old Mexican-Kenyan actress has made a name for herself due to her incredible fashion sense, making every Best Dressed list in the last few months, including the stunning custom dress she wore at the Oscars last Sunday, which had been reported stolen - but it seems that now the Lupita Nyong'o gown's found.
It was a stressful few days for everyone involved, as the gown, custom made for the beautiful actress, was encrusted with 6,000 white Akoya pearls and was estimated to be worth around $150,000, but now that the Lupita Nyong'o gown's found, people in the fashion industry (particularly in Calvin Klein) can breathe again.
According to CNN, the issue began last Wednesday, when the stunning white gown was reported missing from the actress' suite in the London Hotel in Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard, prompting a police investigation as they tried to chase down the expensive dress until ultimately the Lupita Nyong'o gown was found.
As NBC Los Angeles reports, the Lupita Nyong'o gown was found in the very same London Hotel, after the police had received a tip that it had been found in a bathroom or so stated Nicole Nishida, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - though it is still unclear whether the dress is the right one or just similar to the original Calvin Klein.
Of course, it seems unlikely that there's another $150,000 dress with encrusted pearls in the same hotel at the same time.
According to The Washington Post's report of the Lupita Nyong'o gown found earlier this week, the police received a call on Friday afternoon, when a TMZ reporter told them that they'd received an anonymous tip regarding the dress, as supposedly the person who stole it had taken it to the garment district in Los Angeles, only to find out that the pearls were fake, prompting them to return the dress to the hotel.
In any case, it's great news that Lupita Nyong'o gown's found - whether the pearls are real or fake, it was possibly the most beautiful dress on Oscar night!
