For centuries, humankind has dreamed of exploring other worlds and finding signs of life in different other planets, and, while the most common science fiction views show odd-looking extraterrestrials, the possible discovery of even microscopic alien presences would be astonishing discoveries for humanity - and that's what the life NASA Europa mission will be all about!
Europa is the one of the closest moons of the planet Jupiter (the sixth one, to be more precise) and altogether the sixth largest moon in our Solar System, discovered in the 17th century by Galileo Galilei, often considered the father of observational astronomy; and now, 400 hundred years later, a life NASA Europa mission might happen!
According to Space.com, there's a potential life NASA Europa mission underway, as officials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have asked scientists to study how a mission towards the Jupiter moon could potentially search for evidence of extraterrestrial life, as they'd like to explore the moon's geography.
Time Magazine reports that the potential life NASA Europa mission would be sending scientists to the icy moon to look for signs of extraterrestrial life of any kind, as it has been thought for decades that the moon's geographic conditions, as scientists have considered that there may be life in its under-ice ocean, potentially similar to Earth's deep-ocean microbial life - and it's fairly likely that there's a presence of liquid water on the moon.
National Geographic reports that the possible life NASA Europa mission was first mentioned last Wednesday at the California-based NASA Ames Research Center, as planetary scientists and astrobiologists came together to discuss how it would be possible to reach and detect life here, as Europa has a frozen outer shell that would be the one covering the immense ocean of salt water, where life could potentially occur.
Of course, while "X-File" like conspiracy theorists are having a field day with the possibility of a life NASA Europa mission, if this were to happen it would still be in the early stages, and space missions take a very long time of planning.
