Following the recent announcement by Fox that they were on the planning stages of rebooting the famous alien-themed hit series from the 90s, it seems like they've got their work made for them: for David Duchovny, an "X-Files" return sounds just about perfect.
Last week, Fox Television Group announced that they were in early talks with the people behind the famous show about aliens and faith that saw Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny's "X-Files" fame explode, as they played Dr. Dana Scully and FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder respectively as they investigated mysterious or possibly paranormal-related cases that had been filed in the FBI.
According to RTE.ie, David Duchovny's "X-Files" return is a given, as the actor has recently stated that he'd definitely be onboard for the recently announced revisiting of the story, where he played an FBI agent obsessed with the supernatural and life in other planets.
"I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many (episodes)," was David Duchovny's "X-Files" statement recently according to News.com.au, as he spoke of the possibility of being a part of the series' reboot. "Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."
As USA Today reports, Duchovny has led a very busy life ever since he left the show (which gave him wide recognition, as well as a Golden Globe award and two Primetime Emmy nominations) to pursue other projects, as he starred in several movies as well as the dramedy cult series "Californication," which won him his second Golden Globe Award.
Currently, Duchovny's starring in a new NBC series called "Aquarius" where he plays a detective on the Charles Manson case before the Sharon Tate murders; also, he has just written his first novel, "Holy Cow," set to be released in a few weeks.
While it has been established that David Duchovny's "X-Files" return is a given, there have been no comments from Gillian Anderson, his co-star and counterpart in the show, where she played skeptic science woman Dr. Scully against Agent Mulder's hardcore beliefs. She also won a Golden Globe Award as well as a Primetime Emmy for her role in the show.
