The Bulls have yet another record to boast after managing to successfully block 18 shot attempts by the Denver Nuggets.
In his 14 seasons in the NBA, Spanish center Pau Gasol has in his belt more than 1,500 blocks therefore this two time NBA champion and four times NBA All Star has something to say when it comes to shot blocking. Testament to this was his career high performance of nine blocks 17 points and nine rebounds, just one block and rebound short of triple double. Gasol in a post-game interview said "You plant a seed in their mind, knowing that they're not going to get anything easy close to the basket."
The Chicago Bulls set a franchise record with last night's performance after dominating the defensive end of the court with 18 blocked shots altogether. The game ended 106-101 in favor of the Bulls earning their eighth win in the last nine games of their season. Jimmy Butler led the Bull in the offensive, garnering 26 points and dishing out 8 assists. Superstar point guard Derrick Rose despite missing his first eight shots managed to end the game with 17 points.
The loss to the Chicago Bulls will mark the Denver Nuggets' fifth loss in the the last six game dropping their road record to 4-12. Wilson Chandler made 22 points and is the highest scorer for the Nuggets. Ty Lawson added another 20 points, seven boards and seven assists. Arron Afflalo added another 19 points. Kenneth Faried shines above everyone else in his team with 18 points and a massive 19 rebound game.
The Bulls' previous record in blocked shots was set in Jan. 20, 2012 after managing 16 blocked shots against Cleveland Cavaliers. The current record was set by Gasol's nine blocks, three from Joakim Noah, and two each for Rose and Taj Gibson, and one for both Butler and Aaron Brooks.
