Reese Witherspoon Movies: ‘Wild’ Star Blames Ryan Philippe Divorce For Bad Career Choices

In a recent interview, the woman who won her very first Academy Award for her portrayal of country legend (and Johnny Cash wife) June Carter-Cash, she stated that Reese Witherspoon's movies choices in the past few years were a consequence of her difficult divorce to Ryan Philippe.

Following her Oscar win in early 2006 for her 2005 role in "Walk the Line," Reese Witherspoon's movies started to become not as box-office friendly as they had been a few years back - and, now, she confesses it was because her head and heart were in the wrong place.

According to Us Weekly, the beautiful Southern actress, who is now in the middle of promoting her widely acclaimed performance in the film "Wild" (for which she has already gathered a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations), told "60 Minutes" that Reese Witherspoon's movies had become tedious and box office failures because she was having a difficult time coping with her personal life.

"Phew, that was a tough year that followed. I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better," she told the famous newsmagazine, according to Perez Hilton, regarding Reese Witherspoon's movies in the last few years. "You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs. I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there."

Witherspoon also mentioned an article on The New Yorker that went on about how she was now officially bad for box office, citing her along the names of Tom Hanks and - surprise - Mel Gibson.

Of course, that was almost a decade ago, and the actress has greatly recovered from that tough couple of years - back in 2011, she married talent agent Tim Toth, then welcoming a baby boy together in the fall of 2012, joining Witherspoon's two older children with Philippe.

Now, as Hollywood Take reports, Reese Witherspoon's movies are back on track, as many consider her gritty performance in "Wild" a comeback for the 38 year-old actress.
