"The Interview" will be released; this is the released statement of Sony lawyer David Boies. This is in response to Sony's recent decision to cancel the Dec 25 release of the film.
Boise who gave an interview in NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday stated that the controversial comedy "The Interview" will be distributed. No additional information was released as to when or how the controversial film will be released.
"The Interview" which stars James Franco and Seth Rogen on a mission to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been cancelled by Sony due to the reason that quite a lot of threat has been circulating in the event that any theaters dares to show it. According to Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton, Sony is currently studying alternative ways of distributing the film in case the cinema release will not work out on their advantage.
Boies is also quick to point out President Obama's comments with regards to the Sony attack. Obama has been critical about Sony's decision to cancel the release of the film, saying the studio "made a mistake" in cancelling the theatrical release of the film. Obama also stated that the attack on Sony was an act of "cyber-vandalism" rather than an act of war.
Obama said, "We cannot have a society in which some dictator some place can start imposing censorship in the United States, because if somebody is able to intimidate us out of releasing a satirical movie, imagine what they start doing once they see a documentary that they don't like or news reports that they don't like. That's now who we are. That's not what America is about."
The controversial film "The Interview" was pulled out of its original theatrical release due to a number of cinemas declined to screen it. This move is in response to a group of hackers - "Guardians of Peace" - threatening to launch an attack similar to the 9/11 to any theater that would screen the movie.
