As it is known that this will be the last season of the period drama about advertising, one of the stars of the show that gave the world Don Draper has now gotten her follow-up: for Christina Hendricks, "Mad Men" was just the beginning, as she's been cast in a new Cameron Crowe show.
While she had been seen in other shows before starring as Joan in the famous 60s New York City drama - most famously in the canceled science fiction cult show "Firefly" - Christina Hendricks' "Mad Men" performance was the one that made her a star.
Though, sadly, Christina Hendricks "Mad Men" character (secretary turned ad executive Joan Harris) will see her last days on television by the summer of 2015, Hendricks herself will continue to show off her acting chops on subscription TV. According to IGN, she has just been cast in Cameron Crowe's latest pilot for Showtime, "Roadies."
After Christina Hendricks "Mad Men" turn, where she plays a very professional woman who nonetheless exploits her sexuality for personal and professional gain, it seems that she'll be following the same path, at least partially. In the upcoming show, the redhead actress will be playing the "tough and ingenious" (according to Variety) production manager for a touring band.
"Roadies" will be a show about the tour of a famous rock band, only told from the side of the crew behind the scenes, such as Hendricks' character. According to Screen Crush, the actress will be joining a cast that includes Owen Wilson's brother Luke, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Peter Cambor and Oscar-nominated New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes (who will also be featured in next year's season of HBO show "Game of Thrones").
Sadly enough, it's time to say goodbye to Christina Hendricks' "Mad Men" character along with everyone else in Sterling-Cooper - but it's comforting to know the world will continue to see its stars in new projects!
