Joaquin Phoenix On ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ Announced Engagement To Yoga Instructor: Was It True?

Joaquin Phoenix Engagement - There's nothing quite like when someone decides that a nationwide show is the best opportunity to announce something as important as an engagement. So, why did Joaquin Phoenix do it?

"Inherent Vice" actor was invited on "Late Show With David Letterman" and starting telling quite a unique and hilarious story about his yoga instructor and him.

Apparently, he went and the instructor made him do strange positions that included "harnessing the hog" pose, which he acted and it was him on the floor grabbing one leg. He described it as a "compromising and vulnerable position."

After that, he sat once again and told the shocking side of it all.

"This is the crazy part of the story. We started dating and I think she's the one. I proposed to her and she said yes," he announced and Letterman looked quite skeptical.

"So you're getting married?" the host asked.

"If everything works out, but yeah," Joaquin Phoenix admitted and the audience applauded him and cheered as congratulations, NY Daily News noted. So, basically, that's how Joaquin Phoenix got engaged. Or did he?

Today, the actor was invited to "Good Morning America" and got asked if the announcement of his engagement was actually true.

"No. I think like my life's so boring, and it seemed like something exciting to talk about, and I wanted the audience to like me. They really like people getting married," he admitted while laughing it off, according to ABC News.

He even continued with the joke and offered to get engaged there once again, if they all wanted.

Joaquin Phoenix broached the engagement subject once again in "Live! With Kelly and Michael" and denied the fact that he did yoga at all, EW reported. Apparently, this is how the actor mocked every prior celebrity engagement. Good one!
