Mariah Carey Update: Performs Live For Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Dissed On Twitter

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Rockefeller Center has had some drama after Mariah Carey, one of the performers for the much-awaited event, was not able to make it on time but did perform even if she was hours late.

Carey still was allowed to hit the stage and perform for the NBC special as she sang her hit and classic song entitled "All I Want for Christmas is You" but had to do it live 'cause if she did not, they won't allow her to perform.

According to sources, fans and crew members were really pissed by Mariah for making them wait in the cold for three hours as the rest of the performances was actually recorded and they had to prioritize her for the lineup.

However, although the album has been out and is a song widely known, not everyone loved her performance. People who watched it and even her fans took it to Twitter to sound off regarding her performance.

Here are some of the reactions:

Tasha tweeted: "Looking at #rockefellerchristmas opening with Mariah Carey and her voice is not on point at all. I really love her but she was not good"

Jessica Doz shared: "Mariah Carey ALMOST just ruined All I Want For Christmas is You. #WayTooClose"

Tane Rollins also shared a tweet but it was about the figure of the singer as she wrote: "@MariahCarey CUT BACK ON THE COOKIES, YO! JEEZLOUISE. #truth #truthbomb"

Anyway, the reason for why the song bird was late for her performance and for her pre-recording performance was that she was in a property dispute most probably with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

For the performance, the star wore a glamourous red gown with a warm fuzzy coat and was bathed with diamonds to complete her ensemble.

Carey did apologize about being late and took it to Twitter to say, "Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you. You've kept me here, in your hearts, and I keep you in mine always."
