Microsoft has recently announced the death of Clip Art library, which was associated with its Office suite of program. The latest announcement marked the end of the time for fans of fuzzy, abstract cartoons utilized in desktop documents, publishing, greeting cards, presentations, and invitations since the 90s.
Back in 1996, there were only a total of eighty-two illustrations built into the Word 6.0, yet the collection grew too fast and today, there is a hundred thousand moving and static images housed online. But, since clip art will not be available in Office Suite of programs, royalty-free and stock images will be provided to Office applications through the Bing Images of Microsoft.
In a blog post of Microsoft, the usage of image library of Office has been declining as more and more users are using search engines to seek for images. It was also added that the Bing Image Search can offer users higher quality images, which are more updated. For instance, searching cellphones provide more modern looking and variety of phones rather than the typical bricks that you will find on Clip Art. But, for those who are still searching for retro images, Bing has stocks of this.
It just makes sense to save cost as well as boost the usage of Bing even though many people would rather hop over to Google to seek for images. However, it's still a bit sad to lose the old school Clip Art. Although some people would feel the death of Clip Art, at least Microsoft hasn't closed its curtains to Word Art and everyone can still enjoy designing their documents with some images that they could find on Bing Image Search.
The change will affect versions of Office, which stretches way back to year 2003. With this, it is expected that it won't let users experience inconvenience.
