Food safety officials are urging Californians to discard yogurt-covered pretzels produced by Western Mixers Produce & Nuts, Inc. after routine testing revealed potential Salmonella contamination. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on Friday, highlighting the risk to vulnerable populations like young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.  Western Mixers Produce & Nuts has ceased production and distribution of the product while the FDA investigates the source of the contamination. Currently, no illnesses have been reported.

The recall is limited to yogurt-covered pretzels distributed in California through the following retailers:

• Smart & Final: First Street Brand, plastic containers (6 oz & 15 oz). Look for product lot numbers 241091, 241161, or 241241.
• Gelson's: Gelson's Brand, plastic containers (15 oz). Look for product lot number 241062.
• Down Home Goods: Sold in bulk (14 lb). Look for product lot number 241010.
• Thorp Fruit: Sold in bulk (14 lb). Look for product lot number 241010.
