AT&T Settlement Update: $105 Million Dollars To ‘Jammed’ Phones

AT&T Settlement Update - AT&T is the largest provider of both fixed and mobile phones. But all things have good sides and bad sides. Apparently, one of the biggest complaints of users has been that their phone gets "crammed" with information and promotions they never requested. Now, AT&T will pay.

According to a report made a few hours ago by Reuters, it has happened for years that costumers of AT&T have been complaining of receiving horoscopes and trivia daily that they never requested. And not only that, but also the fact of receiving those means a profit. Every time a person receives a message, someone gets charged. When receiving horoscopes, the person who owns the line gets charged.

People got tired of this and they were heard. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have taken measures on the matter and AT&T has settled to pay $80 million dollars to refund the costumers, $20 million dollars for penalties and fees to all the 50 states in USA, and a final $5 million dollars to the FCC for the penalties committed to them.

The biggest shock of all was to see a company that makes so much and is so successful to be recurring to this "cramming" or "jamming" to phones.

And Doug Gansler, the Maryland General Attorney said stated on that matter, "what's shocking to me, as I thought about this particular settlement, is that we're talking about reputable companies like AT&T and others. This isn't, you know, Phil's Phone Shack that's doing this."

Doug Gansler wasn't the only one shocked but more like undignified by this fact like the costumers were, but luckily AT&T has taken care of the fact and made a settlement that makes most parties involved happy.

Also, after this fine and settlement, AT&T will probably not be related to third-parties once again.
