Aldo-McGregor Winner Will Determine EA Sports UFC Cover

The cover for EA Sports' upcoming game UFC 2 is a literal winner take all affair. The video game publisher has just announced that the winner of UFC 194's much hyped featherweight title clash between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor will be featured on the cover of the game.

The victor will join fellow UFC superstar Ronda Rousey on the box art.

"For the first time in EA SPORTS history, the winner of a real-world sporting event will get the opportunity to be included on a game's cover. The cover will be revealed immediately after the undisputed world featherweight championship at UFC® 194: ALDO vs. McGREGOR on Saturday, December 12 at the MGM Grand® Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada." Reads the official press release.

The company has even created a special 'Fight for the Cover' website to promote the big showdown. Fans can vote on what they believe the outcome of the bout will be. Once a selection is made, the site will generate a video clip featuring simulated footage of their pick created with the UFC 2 engine. A pretty neat trick if we do say so.

"The main event at UFC 194 between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor is without a doubt one of the most anticipated events in UFC history," UFC President Dana White said in the statement. "Aldo and McGregor are two of the biggest stars in the world and it's fitting that next Saturday night the winner not only becomes the undisputed UFC featherweight champion, but also the second global cover athlete of EA SPORTS UFC 2."

The new UFC game is targeting a spring 2016 release.

New features include an all new Knockout Physics System, improved career and online modes, an expanded roster, and EA's ever popular Ultimate Team trading card game.
