"The Incredible Hulk," starring multiple Academy Award nominee Edward Norton, was the second official film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, coming out just months after Robert Downey Jr.'s debut as Tony Stark in "Iron Man," but since then, Mark Ruffalo took the role only to co-star on "Avengers" films - and after the "Thor: Ragnarok" Hulk appearance was announced, it seems like the character is farther and farther away from its own sequel.

Ruffalo's performance as Bruce Banner/The Hulk has been loved by audiences and critics alike after appearing in three MCU films (including a hilarious post-credits scene in "Iron Man 3") and an upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" Hulk appearance, but it seems there's no hope for a sequel to the 2008 "The Incredible Hulk."

Recently, Ruffalo spoke to USA Today about the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" Hulk appearance, when he spoke about not knowing the story for the film just yet although he's looking forward to working with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) again - but he's still shattering hopes for a solo movie.

"Actually, it feels even further away," the actor said recently about the possibility of a solo film after the "Thor: Ragnarok" Hulk time. "It's not Marvel's property, it's Universal's property. I don't know. It seems really problematic."

International Business Times reports that the actor's pretty okay with the whole thing anyway, expressing he'd love to do a solo film but he's not about to lose any sleep over it.

According to Screen Rant, Ruffalo's contract with Marvel is for six films, which is one of the reasons why the character was cut from next year's highly awaited "Captain America: Civil War," which the actor says means they're "saving him" for future appearances, such as the "Thor: Ragnarok" Hulk one and the two parts of "Avengers: Infinity Wars."
