‘Foodbank Australia’ Knows its Partners' Contributions in the Land Down Under

Foodbank Australia has recognized six of its largest industry supporters in a Canberra award ceremony.

Australian Food News reported that numerous readers and food consumers may be unaware of the enormous volumes of foods produced by large companies. The produce are specifically for the needs of Australian charities and other non-government organizations which serve food to underprivileged or needy Australians.

As a matter of fact, Foodbank Australia is a storehouse for food donations from several Australian food manufacturers. In effect, it is a food storage pantry and distribution center which collects donated foods for welfare groups and councils' distribution in each Australian State.

Food Australia's 2015 awards were handed to the following companies: 1) Cerebos, which is also the owner of  Fountain Sauce, Gravox, Saxa and other food brands, for vividly growing its product donations and for making a significant financial contribution; 2) Havas Worldwide and GroupM for supporting Foodbank's "Food Fight" campaign; 3) Kellogg's for bestowing one billion serves of cereals and snacks between 2013 and 2016; 4) SPC Ardmona for over a decade of care and sustenance and its' no waste commitment; and 5) BHP Billiton for funding AUD$3.5 million to the building infrastructure of Foodbank's new Perth warehouse.

Foodbank Australia Chairman Enzo Allara said that Foodbank continuously probes a lot of Australia's food companies but "unfailingly they answer the call." "The job continues in working to realise our vision of an Australia without hunger but it is important to stop and reflect on what we've accomplished and acknowledge the outstanding individual contributions that make our work possible," he said.

Meanwhile, Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) CEO Gary Dawson said that Foodbank provides Australian food companies the chance to use expert skills and knowledge to combat hunger. "The strong commitment of food companies in providing practical, direct assistance to those in need is demonstrated in these great award winners," he said.
