Colin Farrell recently got involved into mindless eating to pile on weight for the comedy movie 'The Lobster.'
The 39 year old actor has revealed that he grew tired of eating cheeseburgers and other unhealthy food while trying to gain weight in order to get into the role he's playing in the movie 'The Lobster.' He said in just eight weeks he gained a staggering 47 lbs.
''It was fun for about two days. And then I was over-eating cheeseburgers for breakfast. I ate like a fool, you know? Chocolates and biscuits beside the bed. I'd wake up at three in the morning and, with my eyes closed, just get eating,'' he revealed to Shortlist as per contactmusic.
The Irish star had very little time to gain weight that he even had to eat every hour of the day. He said he would often wake up at dawn and stuff himself with sweet, sugary food and beverages. However, the unhealthy lifestyle affected his mood and movement.
He said, "I'd be in a bit of a funk. You slow down a bit. Things were a little more physically taxing. You're putting so much sugar into your body that your moods would be changing. But it was fine. I knew it was for a very specific purpose, and I was gonna be in and out.''
He also recalled the whole experience to The Sun newspaper via Belfast and described it "gluttonous" and "messy." But said he kept it clear in his mind that the putting on of weight "was just for the job, so I knew: eight weeks in, eight weeks out, eight weeks in the middle to shoot." After the preparation he said it was pretty impressive as he was really dedicated to movie role.
Farrell played the role of architect David in the comedy movie, 'The Lobster,' which also stars Rachel Weisz and Léa Seydoux.
