Jay Z’s Streaming Service ‘Tidal’ Is Platinum

According to a tweet from the Brooklyn, New York artist, the streaming service Tidal has now 1 million people. But the tweet did not specify the users were a paid subscriber or something else.

Jay Z tweeted, "Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists. Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting. Let's celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn."

But there's no confirmation yet where the actual celebration will take place in Brooklyn on October 20, however, it has been said that the Barclays Center could be hosting the party.

On March 30, TIDAL was launched as an artist-driven platform that offers hi-fi audio and exclusive content. In a report, aside from the American rapper, entrepreneur and record producer - Jay Z, the equity artists-owners involved with TIDAL are the 'If I Were a Boy' hitmaker Beyonce, Rihanna, the British rock band Coldplay, the singer, record producer, and actress - Alicia Keys, Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris, the lead singer and guitarist of The White Stripes - Jack White, Madonna and Usher.

The news regarding the subscribers came up two months after Madonna spoke out to defend Tidal, following its bumpy re-launch, as the pop superstar insisted, "It's just the beginning." Where in June, Madonna used the streaming service to debut her video for B**ch I'm Madonna, but Madonna's promo release was spoiled by technical problems.

And Madonna refused to be persuaded that the "kinks" would soon be worked out, the singer said, "Hopefully we're going to build something distinctive and amazing that's going to engage a lot of people." "It's a great significance that people understand we didn't create Tidal, we didn't put this together, we didn't all join forces because we're broke and we want more money."

However, in April, CEO Andy Chen left the Tidal company. That move was followed by the departures of the TIDAL's project leader who dealt with label and artist relations - Zena Burns, and the Chief Marketing Officer of Roc Nation - Jeff Geisler.
