Sonic the Hedgehog will be back again to the gaming world as the rare "Patrol Car" video game will be released to PC users very soon.
For those who remember, Sonic the Hedgehog was first introduced in 1991. The video game was exclusively released in Japan for small kids. Back then, children were placed inside a car-shaped cabinet, large enough to fit them together with their guardians.
The rare Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car video game became a popular arcade attraction in Japan but never reached the US. However the character Sonic the Hedgehog become popular worldwide which led to his introduction to North America, Europe, and Australia in June 1991.
According to GeneHF who is a blogger of Sonic Retro, players in the original game were given a police car to be driven in order to help Sonic do his cop duties and responsibilities. During the time, the 8-bit arcade garnered a franchise record for having a full acting voice feature.
For now, the videogame will be playable soon thanks to an avid Sonic collector who still got the original version of the game. Will Medved stated to Kotaku that he acquired the Sonic arcade from a Waku Waku cabinet which he bought from Japan for a total price of $5,350.
Medved said that he achieved the large amount of money by launching an Indiegogo campaign which aimed to raise $5,500. Unfortunately, he only managed to raise $100 which is approximately just 2 percent of his actual objective.
The videogame will be available in the next release of Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME). The said emulator is said to have the ability to refashion a vintage videogame to an up- to-date arcade software.
As most of the people know, the character of Sonic the Hedgehog can also be playable nowadays thru Wii U and 3DS via Super Mario Maker and Super Smash Bros.
