Good news to all gaming enthusiasts! Reports reveal that Sony is planning to lower the price of their PlayStation 4 console in the United States. However, the announcement came from an unexpected person who is Phil Spencer, the president of Xbox from Microsoft, the company's main competitor.
In a current interview together with IGN, the Xbox president stated that PlayStation 4 will be downing its price based on recent events and past patterns of the Japanese tech company.
"I fully expect [PlayStation] will drop price. When I think about the playbook they've used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we'll see a price drop from them coming," says Spencer.
As most of the gaming enthusiasts know, PlayStation 4 is almost three years old in the gaming market market. If the price mark-down in the U.S will turn into reality, the upcoming holiday season will be the perfect timing for Sony.
When combined with their new and striking bundles which include Uncharted, Star Wars Battlefront and Lego Dimensions, the price cut could be so successful that it will keep Sony the leading videogame console seller for the year 2016.
On the other hand, Sony's competitor Xbox is showing that they are not in panic at all. As reported by IGN, Phil Spencer said that Sony's decision would lead to a good competition with their Xbox. He also added that gamers would really love the price competition, as he based it on what happened last holiday, were sales numbers of the two consoles are extremely high.
Xbox is also preparing for the autumn as they are about to release several mind-blowing videogames like Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Sony has not yet officially announced that they will have a price-drop in the region. However, in Japan it is official that PS4 with an original price of $333.01 will be marked down to $291.36 starting October 1.
