NASA To Launch 4K TV Channel, US Agency To Air Space Missions

NASA has just announced that they will soon be launching a 4K TV channel that is dedicated to space exploration.

The channel which will be called the NASA Television, will film and broadcast an ultra-HD resolution display of the life of the astronauts in the International Space Station, and will also show the present NASA missions including re-mastered films of their previous historical missions.

This means that an astronaut eating in the ISS and a slow motion footage of a launching shuttle will be fully captured and witnessed. The trip to the moon with Neil Armstrong and other astronauts will also look more amazing and cool.

In their YouTube page, the space exploration group wrote in the description the importance and the benefits of having a 4K TV channel for space study.

"This important new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution - high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place every day," wrote NASA.

"It will also bestow the most breathtaking views of planet Earth and space station activities ever acquired for consumption by those still dreaming of making the trip to outer space," NASA added.

The said channel will be made possible through the collaboration of the video delivery infrastructure company Harmonic and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. The partnership, which can also be called as Space Act Agreement, will use Harmonic's hi-tech video delivery system in order to bring a 2160p resolution at 60fps.

Robert Jacobs, a deputy associate administrator for NASA's Office of Communications in the agency's headquarter in Washington said that the partnership with Harmonic allows NASA to bring a UHD experience to space-enthusiasts and viewers. He added that the 4k resolution they are about to display is four times higher than the resolution of HD.

The agency announced that the said channel will be unveiled this coming November 1.
