In less than a month, the "Big Bang Theory" will be back on CBS with new relationships, themes and cameos, setting the show on a whole new level for sitcoms.
"Big Bang Theory" Season 9 will reportedly showcase cameos from the new "Star Wars" movie that will not only excited the show's stars, but will also keep fans on the edge of their seats.
"Big Bang Theory" Season 8 finale saw Penny and Leonard heading for Las Vegas after the couple got tired planning their nuptials. Sure enough, in Season 9, the two have gotten married, according to Comicbook.com. However, as can be imagined in the world of "The Big Bang Theory," Penny and Leonard's life after the wedding will not be going smoothly.
"That's really only the beginning of the story. As fun and as great as it is to see them married, that's only part of it," showrunner Steve Molaro told TVLine.
Apparently, a woman from the past - whom Leonard told Penny he kissed while he was on a North Sea expedition - will show up. Leonard admitted this fact on their way to Las Vegas, and it did not stop the wedding.
In new photos of the characters shared on the CBS website, Leonard and Penny are seen sitting on a bed, dressed in their chosen attire for their nuptials. The couple appear to be discussing a serious matter. It isn't clear whether the photo was taken before or after the wedding.
"We're nine years in and we want to keep things moving forward, as well as exciting and scary and fun," Molaro said. "And I think this a great way to do it. Penny has had commitment issues for years and years now, especially when it comes to Leonard, and even she feels, 'How much longer are we going to go back and forth on this? Let's just jump in and hope for the best.'"
The Christian Post also reported that characters from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will appear on "Big Bang Theory" Season 9.
"We're talking about how that will be weaved into [the guys'] lives. And we have some really cool ideas...Obviously, we're all excited about it, just as human beings - and the characters are as well. I don't know exactly how it's going to play in, but it won't be ignored," Molaro added.
According to Christian Today, shooting of the sitcom has begun, and the cast is nothing but enthusiastic about Season 9.
"We've shot a couple episodes, and it has been aiming right out of the gate. I even think the next one we shot is funnier than the first one we shot. We're off to a great start," Molaro said. Other sneak peek photos uploaded on the CBS website include ones which show the whole bunch.
While it appears "Big Bang Theory" Season 9 will get a head start with Penny and Leonard's relationship, Amy and Sheldon follows behind as Season 8's finale saw the couple breaking up. In Season 8, Amy told Sheldon she needed some time off to re-evaluate their relationship, so it makes sense that in Season 9, they would be trying to make their relationship work. In one of the CBS photos, Amy appears being comforted by the whole group, while in another shot, Amy and Sheldon are talking in the hallway.
Sources say that apart from the spoilers, fans will genuinely be shocked by what's in store for them in "Big Bang Theory" Season 9, according to The Inquisitr.
Season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" is set to premiere on September 21 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
