Pumpkin Beer: 12 Ales Ranked From Worst to Best [PHOTOS]

Probably no one can ever get enough of pumpkin. Pumpkin beer is generally a new entry to the alcoholic market, but that doesn't mean they don't taste any less good.

Pop Sugar tried and tested 12 pumpkin beers to find out which ones are the best (and worst) so that you won't have to regret choosing those not-as-good-tasting pumpkin beers.

Kennebunkport Brewing Company Pumpkin Ale: 2.5/5

This one-dollar beer is like a hybrid of beer and cider, given its "somewhat sweet" and "tame finish."

The Kennebunkport Brewing Company Pumpkin Ale gives a massive pumpkin spice aroma and flavor, which is to be expected since the beer uses natural flavoring.

Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat Ale: 2.5/5

The Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat Ale sells for $8 for a pack of four, so you're basically paying two dollars per bottle. It has a "funky gourd scent" with a sweet yet starchy flavor.

Unfortunately though, it lacks some spice and that "sharp finish." It might be a beer you could drink at a party or event, but not something you'd go out and buy for a relaxing night at home.

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin: 3/5

The Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin is definitely more expensive than the previous, which costs $8 per bottle. However, this ale brings something to the table that not many would expect.

One good thing about it is its high alcohol content - the naturally flavored beer has a nine percent alcohol content per volume. It's actually perfect for girls who love or would want to try pumpkin peer - thanks to its sweet squash finish.

Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale: 3.5/5

This beer might just remind you of soy sauce thanks to its "malty and dark with savory notes" taste. The Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale costs $8 for a pack of six.

Although its spice isn't too harsh, which Pop Sugar notes as "most apparent on the nose," this pumpkin beer could just be the epitome of Fall.

Uinta Brewing Company Punk'n Harvest Pumpkin Ale: 3.5/5

Setting you back $10 a can, the Uinta Brewing Company's Punk'n is far from the sweet and malty flavor of pumpkin beer.

As Pop Sugar puts it: "Hoppy, bitter, earthy, and dare we say savory, this take on pumpkin ale is worth exploring with your taste buds."

Samuel Adams Fat Jack: 4/5

The Samuel Adams Fat Jack will give you a lot out of your buck. It costs $6 but has an 8.5 percent alcohol content, which will surely get you buzzed faster than you can say "ale."

This easy to drink beer doesn't give you a knocked-out feeling, but gives you an easy warmth with its concentrated formula yet pumpkin syrup flavor in every gulp.

America's Original Pumpkin Ale: 4/5

$8 for a six-pack of Buffalo Bill Brewery's America's Original Pumpkin Ale is definitely worth your money. In fact, you might just keep screaming, "take my money!"

This "amber-style ale is brewed with fresh roasted pumpkins, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg," so it will surely satisfy that pumpkin spice craving without being too harsh, thanks to its "slightly bitter" ending and "full body."

Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin: 4.5/5

The Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin costs a hefty $14, but its malty and "pumpkin pie spice finish" will surely be worth it.

The ale is definitely perfect for those who prefer a heavy beer with a bitter after taste. It's not heavy handed on the oak and pumpkin flavors either, so that the vanilla, caramel, and spice notes don't go unnoticed.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead: 4.5/5

The Shipyard Pumpkinhead ale is perfect for drinkers who prefer a lighter hand. This $10 beer is frothy with a definite pumpkin and slight bitter flavor.

Not only that, but the beer has a "petrol finish," which basically means it's like "a sought-after scent in Riesling wine."

Shipyard even recommends a better way to enjoy the beer: rim a pint glass with cinnamon sugar - which definitely sounds like a must-try!

Timmermans Pumpkin Lambicus: 4.5/5

The Timmermans Pumpkin Lambicus will set you back $12, but if you love the tanginess of kombucha, then this is the perfect pumpkin ale.

It's light and well spiced, but has perfect sweet and sour taste. It's hard not to like this beer, seriously.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale: 4.5/5

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale might just be the most perfect one out there. It sells for $11 for four, and has a very unique and distinct pumpkin spice flavor.

This brown ale brew also carries a "caramel scent," along with a "sweet malty flavor, a delicate trace of pumpkin and nutmeg-brown sugar finish."

Howe Sound Pumpkineater Imperial Pumpkin Ale: 4.5/5

This beer costs just $14 and is probably one of the best pumpkin ales out there. It's got a malty yet chocolate-rich flavor.

The Howe Sound Pumpkineater Imperial Pumpkin Ale is a "strong beer with pronounced notes of barley, freshly roasted pumpkin, hops, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and star anise" without going overboard.
