Disturbing Video Shows What Happens Inside Your Body When You Eat Instant Ramen

There's no denying that instant ramen and other quick fix noodle meals are a cheap, reliable, and often times delicious way to fill yourself up. However, this new article published by attn. may make think twice before boiling a pot of water and reaching into the cupboard for a pack of noodles.

The piece cites a 2014 study conducted by Baylor University researchers which details the many health risks involved when ingesting foods such as these.

According to the Baylor Study, people who eat chemically preserved noodles like these are at a higher risk of contracting metabolic syndrome, which is described as:

"a cluster of conditions - increased blood pressure, a high blood sugar level, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels - that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes."

Dr. Braden Kuo of Massachusetts General Hospital also conducted his own experiment on instant noodles. Using a tiny capsule shaped camera called a 'smart pill', the researchers were able to film a human digestive system as it tries to process a pack of instant noodles.

The clip shows that the processed noodles were difficult to digest, often lingering intact in the body for up to two hours. In comparison, a batch of freshly made ramen noodles broke down almost immediately after being ingested.

Kuo's study was unable to draw any decisive conclusions on how exactly eating noodles like these can harm the human body, but he wants his study to serve as an example. Kuo is planning to delve deeper into the health risks associated with heavily processed meals. For now though, he says it's OK to enjoy foods like these in moderation, even admitting to eating them himself sometimes.
