Chris Cornell Is Open to Audioslave Reunion

To the collective satisfaction of Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, and Rage Against the Machine fans, the super band Audioslave might be resurrected sometime in the future. In an exclusive interview with Total Guitar, Chris Cornell shared his willingness and excitement to resurrect the all-star band Audioslave.

He said that “I think it would be great. We did a lot of songs, and with the benefit of not having done anything with those guys for so long, I can't imagine what it would be. It would be a really amazing experience just to get back and work with the same guys again.”

Audioslave, the overwhelmingly successful super band which broke up in 2007, was made up of Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) and Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell.

Cornell adds, “We were certainly a prolific group of people; we wrote three whole albums in around five years, maybe less. And these were albums that were raw, and we had extra material, and we just never seemed to have trouble ever trying to agree on what would come out of the songs.”

That is certainly good news. And with parting words like, "They were great guys, and I really enjoyed the experience that I had with them, so yeah, I would always be open to doing something."

Looks like fans have a lot to look forward to. Chris Cornell had been very busy since 2007. With his new album Higher Truth coming up and the recent revival of Soundgarden in 2010, the future looks very peachy for Audioslave. That also means Chris has his plate full for a while!

If you haven’t given these guys a listen in a while, then kick back, relax, and enjoy this TBT. We miss you Audioslave!
