The Witcher 3 Sells 4 Million Copies in Two Weeks

The Witcher 3, the latest Role Playing Game from Polish Developer CD Projekt Red has just sold 4 Million units across the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the two weeks since it's release.

In an open letter to gamers Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt, gave his thanks to fans:

"Dear Gamers,

May 19th was a crucial date for all of us here at CD PROJEKT RED - we released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, our open world role-playing game that we had been hard at work on for over 3 years. Since day one, you have given us tons of positive feedback and support - the sheer volume of emails we've gotten since launch simply congratulating us for our efforts is both epic and heart warming, and I wish every developer comes to have such a fantastic community. In terms of media reception, we're really humbled by the scores the game has received all around the world. With an average of 90+ on every platform, Wild Hunt is our dream coming true.

The game has received much critical acclaim since its release. Gamespot gave it a 10 out of 10 rating and the distinction of being 'one of the greatest games ever made.' It currently holds a staggering 93 rating on review aggregator Metacritic.

Despite the runaway success of the game, the developers say they still have more in store for players. Two planned expansions are set to arrive with the first arriving this October. There are also 16 DLC items arriving in bundles of two every week until the end of July

The Witcher 3 is the third and final instalment of the Witcher trilogy and concludes the tale of the titular hero Geralt of Rivia. The series is based on the books of polish fantasy writer Andrzej Spakowski.
