‘Deadpool’ Morena Baccarin: Is ‘Homeland’ Actress Back In Fox Studios Movies After ‘Firefly’ And ‘Serenity’?

Though known mostly for her role in the Showtime political thriller series "Homeland," if it's true that she's to be in a superhero movie, it's a fact that "Deadpool" Morena Baccarin is no stranger to science fiction, as she first became famous after playing Inara in the Joss Whedon space cowboys series "Firefly."

The beautiful Emmy-nominated actress is also no stranger to comic book adaptations, as she's currently co-starring in "Gotham" as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, in one of her many television endeavors in the past decade - but is it true that "Deadpool" is Morena Baccarin's next project?

A few weeks ago, Cinema Blend reported that there were about six actresses shortlisted to grab the lead female role in "Deadpool," but Morena Baccarin was ultimately the woman for the job, no doubt due to her combination of talent, beauty and background as having worked in different science fiction and "geek culture" projects, most notably in the cult show "Firefly" that saw a very early cancellation only a few episodes into its first season in Fox.

According to Variety, not much is known yet about the "Deadpool" Morena Baccarin character, except for the fact that she'll most likely play the love interest of Ryan Reynolds in the "X-Men" spinoff. Gina Carano, from "Furious 6," will also co-star as Angel Dust, along with T.J. Miller.

Tim Miller will be directing the project, based on a script co-written between Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, while the film - currently in pre-production - will be produced by Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, with a schedule to begin shooting next March in Vancouver - fulfilling all "Deadpool" Morena Baccarin needs!

The first to break the story about the "Deadpool" Morena Baccarin casting was The Hollywood Reporter, explaining that the character is to fall in love with a man with a "hideously scarred face" - one of Deadpool's traits in the original Marvel comics.
