As the "Girls" star's father is surrounded by controversy following his confession to having embellished a story and then getting suspended from NBC, Allison Williams' Brian Williams comments obviously had to come at some point and, unsurprisingly enough, the actress stood by her old man, saying why people should do the same.
In a recent event which saw her sharing a stage with Seth Meyers, the former SNL "Weekend Update" anchor gently asked Allison Williams about Brian Williams, and she stepped out to defend her father amid strong accusations of embellishing every other story and a wave of supporters - including a weird conspiracy-driven letter by former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen.
According to MediaIte, Allison Williams' Brian Williams comments happened when she was a guest at the 92nd Street Y with Seth Meyers, when he asked her about how her father was doing during the controversy, to which she warmly stated her support, saying he's a trustworthy man that has always been there for his family and that she "can't wait" to see him back on TV.
"My dad has always been there for us, 100 percent of the time," were Allison Williams' Brian Williams comments to Seth Meyers, according to Gawker. "One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He's a really good man, he's an honest man, he's a truthful man, he has so much integrity, he cares so much about journalism," she then continued. "I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I've tested him on that."
New York Magazine reports that Allison Williams' Brian Williams comments show the first time anyone from the family has spoken out about the current situation, particularly after NBC issued a suspension to Brian that's to last six months after his confession.
