Things haven't gone as smoothly for Lance Armstrong today as the disgraced cyclist would have hoped; only a few weeks back, he was involved in yet another scandal over lying and letting his partner Anna Hansen take the blame for a hit-and-run case ... and now, he'll have to pay $10 million over having committed perjury.
Over and over again, the Tour de France star has learned that lying isn't in his best interest, and yet he continues to do so and get into further trouble with the law and more so with the public eye, as Lance Armstrong today is faced with a $10 million fine.
According to BBC, the issue that Lance Armstrong today faces comes two years after the interview with Oprah Winfrey that saw him finally confessing to having used enhancement drugs during his time as a cyclist, when he'd won the Tour de France for a record-breaking seven consecutive times - all of these titles were stripped from him after his confession.
The New York Times reports that Lance Armstrong's today issue came after a Texas insurance company named SCA Promotions filed a complaint against the cyclist. In the papers, the company stated that they gave Armstrong millions of dollars worth of bonuses for his different Tour de France victories and, as such, they suffered great damage when the retired athlete confessed to having doped - particularly considered he'd already denied it at a previous arbitration involving the company, when he was under oath.
As Forbes remembers, the issue that sees Lance Armstrong today facing a 10 million dollar payment comes after he denied his involvement with doping for years, until finally confessing it hadn't been true.
A previous arbitration process from early February had stated that Lance Armstrong today had to pay the insurance company for perjury in the previous case, when he'd denied being involved with performance-enhancement drugs.
