Hundreds of cases of salmonella were reported in the US and Netherlands which resulted in major product recalls. Dutch health authorities have reported that smoked salmon by Dutch company Foppen have been tainted with salmonella bacteria. Foppen's U.S. distributor is Costco, and when Costco learned of the salmonella outbreak that occurred in Netherlands, the U.S. company pulled out all the fish off of the shelves. -
