‘Horrible Bosses 2,’ Movie Review: The Worst Comedy Ever?

"Horrible Bosses" seemed to fail horribly in the movie reviews. An R-rated comedy of Warner Bros. and New Line, the movie fared well in the box office having garnered $4.3 million in its premiere on Wednesday and approximately $30 million in five days and was able to gain around $209.6 million the world over, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.

"Horrible Bosses 1" was a hit comedy in 2011 for it was indeed funny, however, the HB2 has fallen short of the viewers expectations for a comedy film to create laughter and funny moments as the show goes along, although it can be seen that somehow it tried to make people laugh.

Changing their previous strategy in HB1 to end their sad fate with their bosses, the three decided to venture into something to get rid of their bosses; hence, struggling entrepreneurs were born.

The story unfolds with the return of 2011 Horrible Bosses' Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis for the characters of Kurt,Dale and Nick. The three displeased workers went into manufacturing of a unique product for a certain investor who verbally committed to make a large purchase from them. Jennifer Aniston also came back to fulfil Julia's sex-obsessed character.

Directed this time by Sean Anders, "Horrible Bosses 2" runs for 108 minutes, quite a long span of time to endure a not-so-funny comedy right from the very start. The Telegraph revealed various reactions of viewers from a sinking feeling at the onset, to the viewers' endurance to finish the film. It could be that Scriptwriters seemed to fail in terms of putting more substance to the story or putting more value on the characters' roles.

The characters merely exist to express dissatisfaction with their bosses, not so complicated and simple enough to come up with instances to lighten the viewers' mood. But a good laugh must stem from a sensible incident that is indeed funny. Meaning, for a comedy to be worth its category, laughter and not boredom is expected from the audience.
