Richard Sherman App - The NFL player lent his name for a new app called "Letters of Boom," which focuses on the spelling of words.
Richard Sherman became one of the first NFL players to be involved in apps. Before him, Brandon King developed the game "Smashman" earlier this year, according to TMZ. He got 2,000 downloads on its first week.
Now, Richard Sherman is known for speaking quite a lot and also maintaining a love for word games. So, in a way, it made sense that once he created a game, it would be of "word formation."
The app launched on Wednesday and the player announced it on his Twitter account.
"Excited to release #LettersofBoom, my new word game. Make words blow up stuff. It's simple, intense and only at the App Store."
On the App Store, the game is worth $1.99. Richard Sherman also shared that the idea behind this game is to help people learn and read more.
"My message is, knowledge is power. You should want to be powerful in all aspects of your life. It would be fantastic to attract a crowd of kids who are mainly into sports, and get them to fall in love with books and reading," USA Today noted.
There was a comparison made of the App to Scrabble game. The main difference is that the turn for a person to play is immediate rather than waiting for the other person to think and form the word.
Basically, a stream of tiles appears and the user needs to choose where to place them. The options are two virtual racks. Every time a new word is spelled, points grow.
The app also has an addition. It contains words that are part of Richard Sherman's slang, like "UMadBro," "picksix," "Compton," "Legion," and "swag," Seattle Pi reported. The game was developed by the digital agency Digital Kitchen.
