Joan Collins’ First Husband Sexually Abused Actress Before Marriage: ‘I was Raped When I was Seventeen Years Old’

Joan Collins' Husband - In "Brave Miss World," a documentary premiered in the UK at the Jewish Film Festival last week, Joan Collins speaks out about the past abuse she suffered in hands of Maxwell Reed.

The documentary focuses on Linor Abargil, the former Israeli Miss World. She was raped in 1998 and six weeks later, she won the crown. Now, 34, she spent five years traveling the world and seeking women to speak out.

Among them was Joan Collins. She spoke for the first time on camera about the past abuse that her first husband made her go through.

"I was raped when I was seventeen years old," the actress began and the Daily Mail noted.

After that, she said that she was out on a date with Maxwell Reed and before going to take a bath, the actor gave her a rum and coke, and also left her some books to read.

"The books were porn, which I'd never seen before. Hardcore porn. The next thing I knew, I was out flat on the sofa in that living room and he was raping me. And what he had given me was a drug. He had drugged my drink," Joan Collins confessed.

She stated that in those days it was called a Mickey Finn, what he'd given her and today, it would be Rophynol. She felt horrible and out of guilt, she continued dating Reed and after some months, they got married.

Joan Collins recalled crying on the evening before her wedding but her father told her it would be better to continue with the event as people had already been invited, according to The Independent.

The marriage lasted four years and Joan Collins has been married five times in total. She's now with her husband Percy Gibson since 2002. She did share that it took her a tremendous amount of time to trust any man again.
