Pacquiao Algieri- Philippines is now at the height of celebration after the Philippines champion, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao beat American Chris Algieri six times in Cotai Arena in the Venetian Macao casino in Macau, China Saturday.
The Pacquiao Algieri fight retained Pacquiao as the title holder of WBO welterweight while the judges scored 120-102, 119-103 and 119-103 favoring his victory. He had seized Algieri after 12 rounds with powerpunches of 410 to 212.
Pacquiao threw Algieri in a halfway boxing court with the power of his left hand. The American boxer, appearing seriously injured continued his fight until the 12 round that led to Algieri's sixth knockdown during the Pacquiao Algieri fight, Saturday night.
"I came and did my best and that was good enough," Pacquiao stated. "I was trying to knock him out but he was fast and moving so it was hard to get the K.O."
Although Algieri was knocked down six times, he was not really seriously hurt until the ninth round that caused swelling at Algierie's left eye. The Pacquiao Algieri fight gave Pacquiao a new record of 57-5-2 and 20-1 for Algieri.
Prior to Pacquiao Algieri fight, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's longtime cornerman and trainer, predicted that the fight is a mismatch right from the start. He predicted that Pacman could overthrow Algieri with the reigning WBO welterweight champion's speed in no time.
Shortly after the Pacquiao Algieri match, speculations had triggered for the next fight of Pacquiao. The call for Mayweather Pacquiao match will be the closest. Bob Arum, the chief executive of Top Rank Boxing promoting Pacquiao revealed that a close deal is about to happen for Mayweather and Pacquiao to meet next year.
After the Pacquiao Algieri match, Pacman is expected to receive $23 million adding to his gross earnings of $335 million. Meanwhile, Algieri received $100, 000 for his fight with Ruslan Provodnikov last June. A post degree graduate of Clinical Nutrition, Algieri is receiving $1.675 million in high payday in his career.
