Taylor Swift New Album is Smash Hit: 1989 Claims the U.S. Billboard Top Spot

It seems that the "Shake it Off" singer make it a habit that she will always land on the number 1 spot. Taylor Swift "1989" just earned again the top spot on the U.S. Billboard album chart.

Swift's latest album "1989" landed on the number 1 spot on the recent U.S. Billboard 200 album chart. The album stays at the number 1 position for three consecutive weeks.

Based on the compiled figures of NielsenSoundscan, Swift a onetime country singer who turned into a pop-oriented artist already sold 312,000 copies of her album last week. The album "1989" is the second album of the year that spend at least three weeks at the top of the chart, the first one is the Disney's animated movie "Frozen" soundtrack.

So far, Swift already sold 2 million copies of her album which comes second after Disney's "Frozen" soundtrack which has sold 3.25 million copies of the album.

According to Billboard, Swift is also the first woman who replaced herself on the top of the Billboard's Hot 100 song chart. Her single "Blank Space" replaced her song "Shake It Off" to the number 1 spot.

Foo Fighters "Sonic Highways", Pink Floyd's "Endless River", Garth Brooks "Man Against Machine" and Big K.R.I.T. "Cadillactica" are all behind Swift on the chart.

According to Billboard, the album sales for the week ending Nov. 16 were 5.4 million; it was flat compared to the same week last year. The year-to-date album sales has a total of 209.5 million, it is 13 percent decline compared to last year with the same period.

24-years-old Swift is an American singer-songwriter who is known for her hits such as "Teardrops in my Guitar", "Love Story", "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Shake It Off". Swift already released five studio albums and had four concert tours. She also appeared in the movie "Valentine's Day" and lends her voice in the animated movie "The Lorax".
