Previously on AHS Freak Show, we saw the affair between Elsa and Paul, but it didn't take that long for Elsa to realize that Paul is cheating on him with another woman, Penny the Candy Stripper. So when Elsa decides to perform an act involving knives, Paul volunteered to be the bait, only to end with a knife in his stomach, putting his life at stake. Apart from Paul, Jimmy was also walking on thin ice in the previous episode when Stanley convinced Maggie that killing Lobster Boy and sell his claws would give them much too much money. Though Maggie managed to convince Stanley that killing Ma Petit is the best option, Maggie ended up afraid of killing the latter and instead decided to run away with Jimmy. Also last week, we saw Dandy bonding with Bette and Dot, only to find himself too amused and smitten by the two-headed freak. However, Dandy later on discovered that Dot was only using him so she could get the surgery and get rid of poor Bette for good. This enraged Dandy, so he vowed to kill once more. Meanwhile, lead star Jessica Lange, who is to depart the show after this season, recently received the ninth annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. "This year's special because Kirk always wanted to honor a woman," SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said. "And it's the first time in the history of the award that we're honoring a woman, and no one better than Jessica Lange - two-time Academy Award-winner and someone who's triumphed in theater, in film, as well as TV." So congratulations to Lange. At the same event, she gushed about playing Elsa for Freak Show saying, "I haven't played a character like this before that has this kind of history and this drama to her - the many, many layers.
