Benedict Cumberbatch And Sophie Hunter Finally On Red Carpet – ‘Sherlock’ Assures Fans That Their Ovaries ‘Still Have Use’! [PHOTOS]

It's time for female fans of the incredibly talented actor to face things as they are: Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have made their engagement official to the worldwide press after walking at a red carpet event together.

Earlier this month, news of the engagement of Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter first came out to the public, after the actor - in a very old-fashioned kind of way - decided to publish a notice of his upcoming nuptials with fellow actress and theater director girlfriend Sophie, as reported by BBC at the time.

Now, for the first time, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have made walked a red carpet event together - and, sadly for fans of the "Sherlock" star, they look absolutely adorable together, and super happy as well!

Last Monday, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter attended the New York premiere of his new Alan Turing biopic, "The Imitation Game," according to The Daily Mail. The movie has been ringing some serious Oscar buzz for the actor who played classic baddie Khan in the latest "Star Trek" film, and he's been said to be going to compete to Eddie Redmayne's role as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything."

Now that things have become official between Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, fans all over the globe are crying in despair as one of Britain's most eligible bachelors comes out of the market.

Aware as he is of the way his fans adore him - they even call themselves Cumberbitches, though he's proposed the less offensive term "Cumbercollective" instead -, Benedict has been fairly candid to interviewers about his engagement to Sophie Hunter, being very outspoken about how in love they are.

In a recent interview promoting "The Imitation Game," Benedict amused host Kelly Ripa when she asked about his fans and the news of the engagement.

"I'm very happy. I'm a very happy man," he said regarding news of the Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter engagement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I have a great population of fans as well - they're smart, they'll get around to the idea. ... Your ovaries do still have use, let me tell you!"
