Billy Boyd Released ‘The Last Goodbye’ Song [+VIDEO] Featured In ‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’

Billy Boyd, 'The Last Goodbye' - This year, the final movie of "The Hobbit" franchise will be released. To commemorate the journey, Billy Boyd composed an emotional song.

Peter Jackson's trilogy is coming to an end with "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" and before that he directed "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, as well. All the movies, especially the first three, were incredibly acclaimed.

It's up to this day, when "The Hobbit" is expected by the fans. The last movie will have an epic fight situated in the Middle-Earth. But before that, Billy Boyd introduced a song which will appear in the end credits, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

And an even greater detail is the fact that Billy Boyd did not compose this song, but he's also the actor who played Pippin or Peregrin Took in "The Lord of the Rings." So, in other words, he's been a great part of this journey that's coming to an end.

Billboard reported the fact that Billy Boyd flew to New Zealand back in Sept. and watched an early cut of the movie. After that, he had the idea not only to focus on the final movie, but the entire six-part franchise for the "The Last Goodbye."

"We focused on not just the final installment, but moreso on this 10-year epic adventure. A song to sum up the six movies. We recorded in Wellington, New Zealand, at one point travelling to Auckland to Neil Finn's studio."

The best part of it all is that "The Last Goodbye" by Billy Boyd was released on Nov. 14, but yesterday, the music video for it was released, too.

Now, to be completely honest, the song is powerful. Still, the combination of a song which says literally "goodbye" to such a long and emotional journey, together with images from the six movies is just priceless.

The full soundtrack will be released on Dec. 9 and the movie on Dec. 17.
