Brooklyn Bridge Climber Arrested: French Tourist Trying To Take Pictures

Brooklyn Bridge Climber Arrested - A French tourist was taken into custody on Sunday after climbing the Brooklyn Bridge to take photographs.

According to NY Daily News, the climber was identified as Jonathon Souid, a 23-year-old who was scaling a cable in the Brooklyn Bridge, to take what was assumed to be "the perfect picture."

The experience didn't end up being the best one for Souid as he was arrested after being spotted by the police at 12:29 p.m.

Apparently, Souid was wearing a blue hoodie and he climbed over a fence on the pedestrian walkway of the bridge. Then, he walked up a beam over the traffic that was very much present in Manhattan at that time.

In addition, he seemingly stopped trespassers from ascending the bridge by positioning his camera on a blocked security gate that connected the passing-through area.

Once the police caught the climber, he was taken to the 84th Precinct stationhouse in Downtown Brooklyn and is likely to face charges.

CBS mentioned that this is not the first time that someone climbs the Brooklyn Bridge and passes over security.

As a matter of fact, seven months ago two German artists scaled both towers of the Brooklyn Bridge and made a switch of flags. The Brooklyn Bridge has two American flags and these artists thought it a good idea to trade them for white ones.

This was a major case remembered due to the deed that both artists got to do. But, in August it also happened that a Russian tourist was arrested for ascending one of the cables from the Brooklyn Bridge.

Because the cases are escalating as time passes, and NYPD was embarrassed after the German artists' case, so Mayor de Blasio prompted new security measures for the illegal climbers.

It looks after this last stunt and the French tourist being arrested, the climbing of the Brooklyn Bridge might come to an end.
